Recycling Challenges at the Summit County Waste Facility

July 25, 2008
Recently I was at the landfill with a truckload of old kitchen cabinetry from
the 60's that was partical board and could not be reused.

A pickup truck next to me was unloading their "trash", but I noticed they
threw out 2 perfectly good mountain bikes.  Before I could recover these
bikes the landfill's bulldozer ran them over and destroyed them.

This is what I'm trying to prevent!

These bicycles could have been used by someone, especially with today's
high gas prices!  If I couldn't find a taker immediately, an ad could have
been placed in the paper, or these items even taken to a thrift store.

I will always recycle everything I can.  Landfills are a last resort!
